How OrbGPU works.
Everything about mining with OrbGPU: what your GPU runs, how the work is checked, how you get paid and how to verify all of it yourself.
Overview
OrbGPU turns idle graphics cards into a small, verifiable AI network. You open a browser tab, plug in your GPU, and it runs short AI jobs. Every job is run by two different miners; when their answers agree, both are paid in Orbio $CREDIT on Robinhood Chain.
CREDIT is the token Orbio uses for AI usage: 1 CREDIT = $1 of AI on Orbio. So your GPU earns the same unit the models are paid in. OrbGPU is built on Orbio: it uses Orbio's model catalog, its token and its chain.
No install, no rig, no drivers. Mining only runs while the tab is open. Close it and everything stops.
Quick start
- 01Open the Mine page in Chrome or Edge, on a computer.
- 02Connect your wallet and sign in. It's a free signature, never a transaction, and costs no gas.
- 03Press Plug in my GPU. The first time, the AI model downloads (about 0.9 GB), then it stays cached in your browser.
- 04Leave the tab open. Your GPU picks up jobs one by one and your balance grows as they get verified.
- 05Once you reach 1.00 CREDIT, press Claim. The CREDIT is sent to your wallet on Robinhood Chain.
Requirements
- A computer with a GPU. NVIDIA, AMD, Apple Silicon or Intel. Integrated graphics can work but are slower.
- Chrome or Edge with WebGPU (enabled by default in recent versions). Firefox and Safari support is limited for now. Phones aren't supported.
- About 1 GB of free disk space for the cached model, and enough memory to hold it while it runs.
- A wallet on Robinhood Chain (chain id 4663) to sign in and receive payouts. You don't need any ETH to mine; signing in is free.
What your GPU does
Your browser runs Llama 3.2 1B Instruct, a small open model, through WebLLM on WebGPU. GPUs that support 16-bit shaders use the Llama-3.2-1B-Instruct-q4f16_1-MLC build; others fall back to Llama-3.2-1B-Instruct-q4f32_1-MLC. Every miner runs the same model, which is what makes answers comparable.
There are two kinds of job:
- Summaries (tl;dr). One plain sentence, at most 25 words. For example, a catalog description of an AI model from Orbio's public catalog, written from its spec sheet.
- Labels (tag). Pick exactly one word from a fixed list: what an AI model is for (chat, code, vision, image, audio, embedding, other) or the market tone of a report (bullish, bearish, neutral).
The prompt for each job is built by the server, so every miner on that job runs exactly the same conversation. A job is leased to your GPU for 3 minutes; if it doesn't answer in time, the job goes back to the queue for someone else.
How jobs are verified
No single GPU is trusted. Each job goes to two different wallets, and you can never be paired with yourself. When both answers are in, the server compares them:
- Labels must be exactly the same word.
- Summaries must say the same thing: at least 30% of their meaningful words must overlap.
Then one of three things happens:
- They agree. The job is verified and both miners are paid.
- They disagree. A third GPU runs the job to break the tie. The miners whose answers match are paid; the odd one out earns nothing.
- Nobody agrees, even after the third run. The job is voided and nobody is paid for it.
Cheating doesn't pay. A GPU that sends random or lazy answers simply never matches anyone, so it never earns.
Rewards and limits
The same rules apply to every wallet and are enforced by the server:
Days reset at midnight UTC. When the daily reward budget is used up, no new paid jobs are created until the next day. The caps keep things fair: rewards are spread across many miners instead of being captured by one big farm.
Be realistic: OrbGPU is not a way to get rich. It's a way to put a GPU that would sit idle to work, earn the token AI runs on, and be part of a network you can verify end to end.
Claiming CREDIT
Verified jobs add to your balance in OrbGPU's ledger. Once your unpaid balance reaches 1.00 CREDIT, the Claim button unlocks on the Mine page. Claiming sends your whole unpaid balance from the payout treasury to your wallet in one transfer. OrbGPU pays the gas.
The amount is reserved before the transfer, so a claim can never be paid twice. If the transfer fails, it is released back to your balance. If the treasury is being refilled, the claim waits and your earnings stay safe in the ledger.
The CREDIT token
CREDIT is Orbio's token on Robinhood Chain. It has 6 decimals. To see it in your wallet, add it as a custom token:
You can spend CREDIT on AI at orbio.so, hold it, or move it like any other token. View it on the explorer →
Proof and transparency
You never have to take our word for anything. The Proof page shows:
- The payout treasury: its CREDIT balance read live from Robinhood Chain, next to what is currently owed to miners.
- Every payout, each linked to its onchain transaction.
- Every verified job: open one to see the input, what each GPU answered, the model it used and the verdict.
- Every contract and wallet OrbGPU touches, with links to the explorer.
If the treasury can't cover what's owed, you'll see it. If a payout happened, you can click it. The Feed shows the latest verified output from community GPUs.
Safety and privacy
- Nothing is installed. The model runs inside the browser tab, in the same sandbox as any website. Closing the tab stops everything.
- Signing in is free. It's a message signature to prove you own the wallet. OrbGPU never asks you to approve tokens or send a transaction to mine.
- Only answers leave your computer. The server sends your GPU a job; your GPU sends back its answer. Your files and browsing are never touched.
- Your GPU works hard while mining. Expect fans to spin up and more power use, like when gaming. Close the tab whenever you need the GPU.
Troubleshooting
›It says WebGPU is not available.
Use an up-to-date Chrome or Edge on a computer. Check that hardware acceleration is on in the browser settings, and update your graphics drivers. On some laptops, set the browser to use the dedicated GPU.
›The model download is stuck or very slow.
The first download is about 0.9 GB. Keep the tab open and in front until it finishes. If it fails, reload the page; already downloaded parts are reused.
›My GPU is mining but my balance isn't moving.
You're paid when a job is verified, which needs a second miner to answer the same job. With few miners online this can take a while. Your pending jobs settle as soon as their partners answer.
›It says I hit the daily limit.
Each wallet can do 300 jobs per UTC day, and all miners share a 5.00 CREDIT daily budget. Both reset at midnight UTC.
›Claim says the treasury is being refilled.
The payout wallet is temporarily short. Your balance is safe in the ledger; try again later. You can watch the treasury balance on the Proof page.
FAQ
›Is this crypto mining like Bitcoin?
No. There's no hashing and no proof-of-work. Your GPU runs useful AI jobs, and you're paid in an existing token, CREDIT, when another GPU confirms your answer.
›Where does the CREDIT come from?
From a public payout treasury on Robinhood Chain. Its address and balance are on the Proof page, and every payout from it is visible onchain.
›Can I mine with several computers?
Yes, but limits are per wallet: 300 jobs per day whatever the number of machines. Two machines on the same wallet are never paired to verify each other.
›Can I mine on my phone?
Not for now. Mining needs WebGPU and enough memory for the model, which phones rarely have.
›Does a better GPU earn more?
A faster GPU finishes jobs sooner, but every verified job pays the same and the daily cap is the same for everyone.
›Is OrbGPU made by Orbio?
OrbGPU is an independent project built on top of Orbio: it uses Orbio's catalog, its CREDIT token and Robinhood Chain.
